Super small house renovation in Beijing hutong

The Dreamhome program is a large reality show about house renovation built by Dragon TV. It is presented to choose a family with living obstacles and then to invite a designer to refurbish the house with limited budget. In the program of Aug. 11st , a Japanese designer Aoyama Shuhei transformed the structure and renovated the interior decoration of part of a courtyard in Nanluoguxiang Lane in Dongcheng District, Beijing. Häfele offered hardware to assist the project fulfillment.

The larger apartment measures 35m2 and holds 5 family members. The designer stayed in the apartment with the family for 24 hours and found out various bothering issues. Then he expanded the storage space in the living room, the bedrooms, the kitchen and the entrance, using multi-functional hardware in the furniture. Meanwhile, he designed a delicate LOFT which utterly changed the originally boring and narrow space and added a kid’s corner, an additional bedroom for the granddaughter, a dressing room and a library to ensure both privacy of each family member and intimacy.

Häfele provided sliding door fittings, two sided access BB runner , pull-out table fitting, wardrobe accessories and pull out baskets to enable a perfect completion of the renovation and bring more functions and convenience to the persons living there.

The smaller apartment, being known as the smallest school district house ever,  consists of a 3.7m2 kitchen and a 3.1m2 bedroom. The extendable dining table in the kitchen with a smooth grid shade is able to serve 8 persons at a time. The renovated bedroom can transform from a tea room to a bedroom and vice versa by placing panels at 5 different heights through the sliding tracks.

Häfele provided sliding door tracks for the kitchen grid shade and bedroom transformation, with which it succeeded in operational flexibility and space saving. And door handles and locks set for the entrance door features durability, simplicity and safety brings a perfect integration into entire design.
