Hardware solutions for small-sized room

The multi-functional cube designed and built by Häfele created everything needed for daily life in a limited room size which is only 39 square meters. This magic cube not only displayed the application of hardware technology in small sized rooms but also explored the future model of home development.

New concept of living – functionality Cube in 39 Square meters

How to plan your spaces?

How much space will we have in future? How effectively will we use it? The Häfele functionality cube provides the answers.

For the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Horticultural Show in Nagold/Stuttgart, Haefele- based in Nagold- presented itself to the visitors in a floating loft cube. The fully glazed building connects the interior and the exterior in a unique way: the room immersed in light allows an unrestricted view of the park landscape and the old town of Nagold. With furniture developed specifically for the residential cube, Häfele realized an open living landscape on only 39 square meters which combines cooking, eating, working, living and sleeping inside an equally elegant and functional architecture.

A complete kitchen unit with built-in appliances and wet area is concealed behind moveable folding doors in a cabinet combination. When opening the doors, they completely disappear in the furniture front.

A dining table for four can be folded out from the detached kitchen block arranged parallel. Alternatively, the worktop can be moved with a light hand movement. That way, a communicative bar situation is created on one side of the kitchen block, whereas a hidden hob with an integrated extractor hood appears at the opposite end.

The living area is located vis-a-vis the kitchen zone. If required, a large flatscreen TV rises from a hip-high sideboard. After watching television, the appliance can simply disappear in the piece of furniture and reveal the surrounding landscape once again.

The third wall of the Loft Cube facing the riverbank with seating steps remains free, whereas the fourth side is dominated by a wide, floor-to-ceiling wall and shelf unit, which combines the functions of working and sleeping. A newly developed hardware makes it possible to easily and quickly lower the desk and exchange it to a bed. The highlight: Up to a height of 40 centimeters, everything can be left behind so that time-consuming tidying up is redundant, even a glass of water need not be cleared away.
